Sanyo Xacti VPC-E7 Digital Camera

sanyo-e7.JPGAfter the S7, it’s the turn of the Sanyo Xacti VPC-E7 to make its presence felt in the digital world. The E7 is a tad cheaper than the S7 which in the digital world means fewer features. However in all fairness the Sanyo E7 is quite a trooper with its 7 megapixel resolution, 3x optical zoom and its 2.5 inch LCD. This new digicam also sports the innovative touch sensor which makes shooting more fun.

When it comes to design there is something very chic and cool about the E7. This ultra slim camera has dimensions of 91 x 55 x 21 mm and is just 21mm thin. The Sanyo Xacti VPC-E7 maybe small, but Sanyo assures us that users won’t be fumbling with the buttons and everything is well laid out. Though it’s compact that doesn’t mean that the folks at Sanyo have compromised on the LCD. The E7 sports a decent 2.5 inch LCD and the onboard touch sensor is able to activate auto focus and also provides a shutter lag of only 0.05 sec's and the camera is able to capture sequence shots at 2.3 fps.

The Sanyo E7 has been equipped with a number of Scene and Effect Modes which will give your photography an edge. While Filter options include Standard, Black and White, Sepia, Contrast, Saturation, Scene Modes include Automatic, Sport, Portrait, Landscape, Night, Firework, Dark. The onboard Portrait Mode deserves a mention as the camera automatically focuses on the faces without making the skin tones unnatural and making sure that there is no red-eye. For the adventurous, the Autofocus mode will come in handy as its let you capture action oriented shots without any sweat.

The Sanyo Xacti VPC-E7 also has a decent movie mode where footage can be recorded at 30fps in the VGA mode or 15fps in the WEB mode. ISO settings range from 50 to 400 in the auto mode and the manual mode they range from 50 to 800.Onbaord memory is about 23 which can be expanded via SD memory card, Multimedia card and a 4 GB SDHC memory card. The digicam is powered by a Lithium Ion battery provides approximately 260 images on a single charge. The E7 will be available by September this year for about €279. One can choose from options like Standard, Black and White, Contrast, Sepia, Saturation or Scene Modes like Automatic, Sport, Portrait, Landscape, Night, Firework etc.

Or it can also capture movie clips in WEB Mode at 320 x 240 (15 fps) with audio. It supports Quick Time movies and when it comes to stills, the digicam records in JPEG (DCF, Exif Ver. 2.2, DPOF standard). Internal memory is about 23 MB which of course can be expanded via the memory cards. The S7 is compatible with SD memory card, Multimedia card and the 4 GB SDHC memory card.

Those who want to take images in rapid sequences would dig the Sanyo Touch sensor which is capable of proving a shutter lag of only 0.05 sec and the camera is able to capture sequence shots at 2.3 fps. The digicam is powered by 2 AA format Alkaline batteries and also supports the new Eneloop batteries. While the former provides about 250 images the later doubles the images on a single charge.
